While on an antiquing expedition in Franklin Tennessee a few weeks ago, I stumbled across this match box crate. I loved the size, the dovetailed corners, the color... everything! It was a little bit pricier than I would have liked, but when you find something you love, sometimes you have to just go for it!
Years ago, this crate used to carry match boxes. Now it has been given new life and looks like it was made for my pillows! This may be one of my most favorite antiques...
This is what "dovetailed" corners look like.
If you look carefully on the end, you can see where this box used to have a name labeled on it. When the sun hits it just right, you can read it. This is how I know it contained match boxes at one point.
