Pansies in February?

I can hardly believe the pansies I planted in August are still blooming. Not only are they still blooming, but they are doing better now than when I planted them 6 months ago. I had a hard time keeping flowers alive because of the extreme heat we saw during the summer months. Over the course of the summer, I had to change the flowers in this pot 3 times. In a last ditch attempt, I planted pansies in August. Little did I know that they would still be blooming in February!

I have learned pansies do well in cool weather. We have had several frosty mornings, but it does not last long enough to bother the pansies. We have also had a fair amount of rain, so I have not even had to water them.

Gotta love the South!
