I'll be honest... It's a little claustrophobic to me to know that our wandering and exploration days are going to be limited in a few months. I love to travel. Plain and simple.
Now I know it is not impossible to travel and see new things with a baby, but I am also realistic and realize that it will be much more difficult. The types of places we visit will be changing drastically. We'll be giving up London in exchange for Disney World. Zip-lines through the rainforest will be replaced by trips to the Detroit Zoo.
Don't get me wrong; I am not complaining. I look forward to the change with open arms! I just know our lives will be...well... different!!
So the hubby and I took off on one last little hurrah! We did not go anywhere exotic, but we did get to explore beautiful northern Michigan! Roadtrip!!!
Highlight of our trip was definitely baby-daddy feeling the baby move! I have been feeling the baby move for several weeks now, but within the past two weeks baby has become more active. I had been praying baby-daddy would feel the baby move on this trip, and he did! Love little answers to prayer!
Here was our daily breakdown (cities mentioned are hotel location only):
Day 1: Mackinaw City - dinner at the Hackmatack Inn and ice-cream at the Big Dipper in Cheboygan.
Day 2: Paradise - watched a boat pass through the Soo Locks, climbed the lighthouse at Point Iroquois, saw the Edmond Fitzgerald bell at Whitefish Point and ate whitefish at the Little Falls diner.
Day 3: Munising - saw a bald eagle at the Lower Falls of Tahquomenon, convinced James not to jump into the Upper Falls, ate at the Dog Patch restaurant, and took a rough ride on a boat to see Pictured Rocks (all the while keeping our dinner down).
Day 4: Mackinaw City (again) - saw the Kitchitikipi spring, visited and biked through Fayette Historic State Park (If you have never done this, you are in for a treat! Filled with historic buildings, wildlife, beautiful scenery, and great biking trails that will take your breath away), ate Jilbert's ice cream (this may or may not have been our lunch! haha), and ate a pasty for dinner at the Three Seasons Cafe.
Day 5: Mackinaw City (again!) - spent the day biking around Mackinac Island (8 miles around the island and a couple more up through the center of the island), saw the Devil's Kitchen, Sugarloaf, the Arch, and Skull Cave... we also had to have some Jilbert's ice-cream one last time before we left the "north."
Day 6: Ludington - climbed up Sleeping Bear Dunes and had dinner at the boathouse.
Day 7: Home (sad!) - Spent the morning on the beach in Ludington, ate at the House of Flavors, purchased a baby name book and spent the trip home looking for baby names.
Sound like we did a lot? Well... we did! We also spent every evening relaxing and dreaming about our baby.
Thanking the Lord for the opportunity to spend time with my wonderful baby-daddy! We have so much fun together... our lives are filled with laughter and love!
