New Years Resolutions?

I am not one to make New Years resolutions. The way I look at it is if there is something in your life you need to change, why wait!?! January 1st does not signify the day you need to decide to lose weight, eat right, exercise, spend more time with family, read more, etc. If you make resolutions, there is nothing wrong with that... I'm glad you are making decisions to have a positive change in your life.

With that being said, last year I made the commitment to read my Bible through in one year... It just so happened that I made this decision the middle of January 2011. I love to read my Bible, but I found that I was not being as faithful in my daily reading as I should, so i figured if I set a goal for myself, I was more likely to accomplish this much needed daily dose of God's word. And you know what? I did it! December 31, 2011 I finished reading the complete Word of God. In case you are wondering, I read the Bible chronologically. I followed the reading plan of One year Bible Online: http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/

Since reading your Bible through in one year requires a lot of time reading God's word, I realized I did not spend time in verse memorization. So this year, my goal (I suppose you could call it my "New Year's Resolution") is to memorize one verse a week. This will result in 52 verses a year! Seeing the number 52 seems a little daunting, but one verse a week is very "doable."

I will post my weekly memory verses here. Please feel free to join me!!

Thy word have I hid in my heart,
that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11
